Where it all began: Since first opening our now-infamous blue door in 1968, Spencer Thorn has grown, evolved and blossomed.
We’ve never, however, strayed from our roots or our family values. Now, over 55 years later, we have the privilege of being a Bude favourite amongst both locals and visitors alike.
Originally a bookshop, now also a gift shop, Jellycat stockist extraordinaire and purveyor of cracking cards, traditional toys and irresistible little treats for all your loved ones.
Our shop family: We love to tell you all about the joys on our happy shelves, but maybe (as we’re friends) it would be good to tell you a little about ourselves too! The people who own the shop, love the shop, tidy the shop, chat to all our lovely customers and enjoy a cup of tea and a biscuit together everyday.
Shop Events: We are blessed and proud to have great relationships with a wide range of authors (from both near and far) and excellent contacts within the publishing industry, so we are very fortunate to be able to offer our lucky customers a breadth of exciting literary events at a range of lovely local venues. From ‘in conversation with…’ type events to Q&A sessions and author signings, our events cover a wide range of genres, themes and interests.
