How to Celebrate Our Mums in 2021

Without hugs, social gatherings and popping over to familiar happy houses, it has felt hard to put smiles on the faces we love the most this year. Luckily, Spring is now firmly in the air (we’ve seen the daffodils to prove it) and occasions that call for pastel prettiness are just around the corner. Here at Spencer Thorn, we are welcoming magnificently large boxes of spring/summer wares ready for such occasions and they are pleasingly full of colour, fresh finds and HOPE that we can see our lovely customers once more.

Mums (and Dads) have been superheroes this year, juggling homeschooling, work, life, worries and a pandemic all whilst making sure everyone feels loved and listened to. We’ve always been BIG fans of Mums in our shop of treats and this year calls for the loudest declaration of love ever.  So, from us, to you, to her, have 10% off all Mother’s Day gifting this week with the code ‘mothersday10’.

Motherhood is made of memories (and mess!) so why not ensure moments can be treasured forever in one of our Journals of a Lifetime, a popular choice for a Grandmother gift. Life-changing books from Matt Haig, Marie Kondo and the Unmumsy Mum all made our most-wanted list, as did pamper-ready gifts from Burts Bees.

Wrendale are a firm favourite for beautiful, useful treats and the new range of seriously soft bamboo socks and handy pocket mirrors have been popular pairings with a book, scarf or candle

Cards are as wonderfully warm as you’d expect in a year where we have all missed our families, and we have a selection on our Mothers Day page that are sure to look great on the mantelpiece. Rosie Made a Thing can do no wrong in our eyes, and her hilariously honest cards say exactly how we all feel, ’I can’t wait to hug you’ sums it all up quite well when we’ve all run out of words to say.

Katie Loxton does gold glints and pretty pinks better than anyone and we have a spinner full of shiny, special things from Joma, including a Marvellous Mum bracelet that will brighten up every day. Estella Bartlett’s cherry blossom studs are pretty high on our want list too.

Jellycat bring joy wherever their softer-than-soft little legs carry them and the new flower range are full of happy blooms that never wilt, what better way to say I love you? There’s also all manner of fruit, vegetables and inanimate objects that are begging to be gifted as nods to shared memories and happy times.

For some, this occasion feels hard (and if so, we’re sending a hug) but we’re seeing it as a very good reason to tell someone how much they mean to you. If you need our help doing that, get in touch!
